Q Can you please tell us locals why 116th Street SE in Everett has not been completed? It’s been 90 percent done for what seems like eight or nine months. It is supposed to connect 116th Street SE with 51st Avenue SE.
This would take a lot of stop signs out of our commutes, and reduce traffic in the Pioneer Trails neighborhoods.
What possibly could be holding this project up?
Robert Greer, Everett
A Jim Fowler, land-use supervisor for the Snohomish County Department of Public Works, said the 116th Street SE extension was being built by a private developer to provide access to its development.
"The development application was made in 1991, and before they completed construction, their approval for construction expired," Fowler said. "They have reapplied in order to complete the project and it is in the process of being reviewed."
He is hopeful that some time this year they will be able to begin construction again in order to complete it.
