The governor passed out her proposed 2008 supplemental budget today. You can read online what I have in my hands. Go to the governor’s home page via the link on the left side of this page.
Snohomish County folks got at least two wishes fulfilled.
Gov. Chris Gregoire came up with the entire $26.9 million needed for installing concrete barriers in place of the existing cable barriers on the stretch of I-5 near Marysville where deadly crossover accidents have occurred too regularly.
This is a bit of a surprise. In September, Gregoire said she didn’t think the money was there to do the perfect solution.
Also in her proposal is $1.1 million to start nursing and teacher education classes at a new University of Washington branch campus. This only happens if the Legislature a picks a permanent place to build the college. No site, no money.
Lawmakers will start poring through details of the budget in January.
