EVERETT — A convicted sex offender is moving to the 1800 block of Hewitt Avenue, Everett police say.
Michael John Beckwith, 41, was convicted in 1984 of first-degree statutory rape. The victim was a 5-year-old girl known to him. In 1999, Beckwith was convicted for possessing child pornography.
Beckwith is white, 5 feet 11 inches tall, 190 pounds, and has brown hair and hazel eyes.
He completed sex offender treatment while imprisoned. He is under Department of Corrections supervision and has several conditions, including a curfew between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., no contact with minors without a previously approved adult present, no pornography, no leaving Snohomish County without permission, no firearms and no frequenting places where minors congregate.
According to the Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office, the 30- by 50-foot building in the 16900 block of Freestad Road was destroyed by a fire sparked by combustibles too close to a wood stove. The fire was discovered about 12:13 a.m.
There were no injuries.
Damage was estimated at $45,000 to the shop, $30,000 to contents, and $17,000 to two boats that were destroyed.
