NEWMAN LAKE — The Spokane County sheriff’s office is warning residents of the Newman Lake area, near Spokane Valley, to watch for cougars.
KREM reported neighbors have seen at least one cougar lurking near their yards and they suspect it has killed a dog.
The Fish and Wildlife Department said it’s common to see cougars this time of year, especially when deer — their usual prey — are plentiful.
