A Republican candidate for Snohomish County Council was appointed to a four-year term on the county Planning Commission on Wednesday.
The Snohomish County Council voted 5-0 to appoint Renee Radcliff Sinclair, 47, of Lynnwood. The volunteer position on the 11-member commission is unpaid.
The commission reviews proposed county policy and land-use changes and advises the County Council.
Sinclair served three terms in the state House of Representatives and on the county charter review commission in 2006.
She has said she’ll run to succeed Republican County Councilman Gary Nelson. Nelson cannot run again because of term limits.
Democrat Mike Cooper, also a former state representative and county charter review commissioner, also has announced his intention to run for the County Council position.
Sinclair said she attended recent planning commission meetings and “thoroughly enjoyed them.”
