EVERETT — Snohomish County Councilman Mike Cooper plans to spend about two months away from regular council meetings for treatment related to his ongoing fight with cancer.
Cooper expects his absence to start next week and last until early April. He said he plans to watch meetings online from home. County rules allow him to vote by phone twice per year.
Cooper, 58, said his recovery is going well and the additional treatment is necessary for the long-term remission of his cancer.
The Edmonds resident, who represents the council’s 3rd District covering southwestern portions of the county, was diagnosed in July with multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer.
