EVERETT — Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon’s office released more than 2,400 pages of email records Tuesday that were compiled in response to a Washington State Patrol investigation of Reardon’s use of taxpayer-funded resources.
The emails, the first of some 6,500 pages expected to ultimately become public, mostly concern mundane day-to-day running of county government.
They appear to contain no mention of a female county employee who sparked the patrol’s investigation in October by approaching County Council Chairman Dave Somers with claims she traveled with Reardon during out-of-town trips on county business during which he did little work. The woman said she had a long-term affair with Reardon, who is married.
Reardon’s office previously released to detectives cellphone records and appointment calendars for the past three years.
County attorneys referred the case to state troopers to avoid a conflict of interest. The patrol has given little indication about how long the investigation is expected to take. Reardon has said he is innocent of any criminal wrongdoing, but has declined to address specific allegations.
