EVERETT — The state lawmaker trying to win the Snohomish County executive’s job has called a press conference Thursday to announce his plans for boosting local employment.
State Rep. Mike Hope, R-Lake Stevens, faces County Executive Aaron Reardon, a Democrat from Everett, in this year’s election. They are the only candidates in the Aug. 16 primary and advance automatically to the Nov. 8 general election.
Hope said the event he’s scheduled for 11 a.m. at the county campus would be a chance to explain his economic platform. The address is 3000 Rockefeller Ave., Everett.
Snohomish County’s June unemployment rate was 10.1 percent, above the state average of 9.3 percent for the month.
