MARYSVILLE — Tom Maloney, who has served as the Snohomish County Fire Marshal since February 2007, has been hired by the Marysville Fire District to become the fire marshal there.
“It was an opportunity for me to get back into the fire service full time,” Maloney said.
Maloney, 42, replaces Jerry Jacobsen who was the Marysville fire marshal for more than 20 years. Jacobsen retired in February, Marysville Fire District spokeswoman Kristen Thorstenson said. His first day with the city was Oct. 27.
Maloney came to Snohomish County from Polson, Mont., where he was fire chief and fire marshal.
Marysville Fire District provides fire and emergency medical services to about 61,000 people.
Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon has asked the county council for the go-ahead to hire a new county fire marshal to replace Maloney, spokesman Christopher Schwarzen said Friday. The request is expected to be approved.
