A series of free weekend workshops is planned in March to provide advice to Snohomish County homeowners about remodeling projects and permits.
Expert staff will be available in informal workshop settings, and that could help change the public perception of the county’s regulatory role, County Planning and Development Services Director Craig Ladiser said.
“Our goal with these workshops is to help people be successful and to enjoy their projects, not to burden them with regulatory requirements,” Ladiser said.
Three Saturday workshops will be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon:
* March 4, Snohomish High School cafeteria, 1316 Fifth St., Snohomish.
* March 11, North Creek Presbyterian Church, 621 164th St. SE, Mill Creek.
* March 18, Stillaguamish Senior Center, 18308 Smokey Point Blvd., Arlington.
The workshops will include a general presentation followed by three sessions on property, plans and permits.
Residents will learn about researching their property, interpreting zoning maps, lot restrictions, requirements for structural plans, when to hire an architect, permit requirements and forms, and environmental rules.
Space is limited and reservations are required; call 425-388-3228.
