STANWOOD — Wenberg State Park on Lake Goodwin is scheduled to turn into a Snohomish County park on July 16.
The handoff will bring two big changes: a $5 per-vehicle gate fee and a ban on alcohol. A ceremony is planned for 10 a.m. on the day of the changeover.
The transfer, at no cost to the county, is part of a plan to help Washington’s park system save money. The deal required the county to keep the 46-acre park open to the public.
County officials have said they expect the park to bring in enough revenue to cover operating costs.
