Snohomish County Public Works will host an open house 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday to present preliminary designs for improving two intersections north of Marysville on 51st Avenue NE.
The meeting will be held in the community room of Marysville Fire Station No. 62, 10701 51st Ave. NE.
County representatives and consultants will display project designs, maps and other visual aides and discuss the project with residents. A brief presentation will be given at 7 p.m. to explain the project in detail and answer questions.
The county is planning intersection improvements next year at two locations on 51st Avenue NE, at Shoultes Road and 108th Place NE, and at 122nd Place NE. Both projects are expected to make the roadway sections safer and improve traffic flow.
Two designs are being considered for the Shoultes Road location: a single-lane roundabout and a conventional four-way intersection with a traffic signal.
At 122nd Place NE, the county is planning the installation of a traffic signal. Two small hills will be lowered, and the intersection will be raised four feet to improve the sight distance for drivers. Culverts in Quilceda Creek also would be made more fish friendly.
