WHIDBEY ISLAND — A Coupeville woman, 55, was in serious condition Monday after she was in a vehicle accident that killed her husband on Whidbey Island this weekend.
The couple were on a motorcycle on Highway 525 on Sunday morning when they were struck by a pickup truck.
The man, Gale W. Tappe, 68, died at the scene. His wife was taken by helicopter to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where she remained Monday.
The crash remains under investigation, but criminal charges are not expected, police said.
