ARLINGTON – A traffic crash and fuel spill prompted the Washington State Patrol to close Highway 530 at the Cicero Bridge northeast of Arlington today.
One person was seriously injured in a collision between a pickup truck and a semi-truck at 10:18 a.m. and was to be airlifted to Seattle for treatment. One vehicle reportedly caught fire, and the crash also resulted in a fuel spill that was in danger of getting into a creek. Firefighters deployed absorbent materials to stop the spread of the spilled fuel.
Both lanes of the highway were closed and there was no indication by midday when the road would reopen, said Victoria Tobin, state Department of Transportation spokeswoman.
