VERLOT — Search and rescue teams and two helicopters were dispatched this evening to help a 60-year-old hiker with head and knee injuries.
The man was hiking with his family on the Perry Creek trail along the Mountain Loop Highway when he was injured, said Lt. Steve Dittoe, sheriff’s office spokesman.
The man’s injuries were not life threatening, but he was unable to move back down the trail. Ground teams and two helicopters were dispatched at 6:51 p.m. to help the man, who was about 1.5 miles up the trail, Dittoe said.
