SNOHOMISH — Crews continue to monitor a Snohomish-area bog where a stubborn brush fire burned over the weekend.
The fire, which first burned late Saturday evening, kicked back up on Sunday and burned again for about three hours, Snohomish Fire Chief Ron Simmons said. The blaze initially covered about an acre west of the city, in the lowlands around Ebey Slough near Fobes Road.
State wildland firefighters were called to help. The fire was extinguished again about 5 p.m. Sunday.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but fireworks are suspected, officials said.
That area is covered in soggy ground and drainage ditches and can only be accessed on foot, Simmons said.
Firefighters will be watching the area for hot spots for at least a few days.
