Here’s a roundup of some of the more interesting recent neighborhood crime news from throughout Snohomish and Island counties, provided by police:
Everett
* 10100 block of 19th Avenue SE, Dec. 17. Someone reportedly pried open the outgoing mailbox at the Family Tree Apartment complex. It wasn’t clear if any mail was stolen.
* 200 block of 100th Street SW, Dec. 17. Someone tried to pry open an outgoing mailbox at the Broadway Condominiums. The mailbox door was bent, but it didn’t appear that it had been opened. Damage to the box was estimated at $200.
* 6000 block of West Magnolia, Dec. 17. An Arlington man reported that someone broke into his 1987 Honda Accord and took a compact disc player, compact discs, speakers and an amplifier. The loss was estimated at $2,200.
* 1800 block of Hollowdale Place, Dec. 18. A Burlington man who was working on refurbishing a rental house reported that someone broke into the residence and stole about $225 worth of equipment. The thief apparently entered the house through a window. Except for a couple of muddy footprints on a carpet, there was no evidence.
* 40th Street and Rucker Avenue, Dec. 18. Police cited a Seattle man who allegedly assaulted a Mukilteo man on an Everett Transit bus. The alleged assault continued outside the bus. When police arrived, the bus driver was holding the suspect down in the bushes adjacent to the bus stop. The man was arrested and released. The suspect promised to appear in court and walked away.
* 1900 block of Wetmore Avenue, Dec. 18. Police were sent to an alleged drug house and saw two people leave. Officers learned that one of the men had warrants for his arrest.
* 1700 block of Broadway, Dec. 19. Police cited a 13-year-old boy and his mother for allegedly shoplifting two bottles of Tylenol. The two were banned from all state Safeway stores for a year.
* 700 block of SE Everett Mall Way, Dec. 19. Police arrested a man who shoplifted a $1,000 television set from Magnolia Hi Fi.
* 2200 block of 36th Street, Dec. 20. Police cited a Bothell man for allegedly shoplifting three lighters from a store.
* 1300 block of SE Everett Mall Way, Dec. 21. Police arrested a man, 60, for allegedly shoplifting a $360 leather jacket from Sears. The man had four warrants for his arrest.
