Crime Watch

Here’s a roundup of some of the more interesting recent neighborhood crime news from Snohomish and Island counties, provided by police:

Arlington

* 200 block of S. Olympic Avenue, Sept. 1. A large mural on the wall at Olympic Hill was vandalized with a black marker.

* 24200 block of Highway 530, Aug. 30. Police tried to stop a vehicle for reckless driving, but the driver eluded police. Later, the driver ran into some bushes.

* 18900 block of Crown Ridge Boulevard, Aug. 25. A water meter was stolen from a residence.

Everett

* 12100 block of 19th Avenue SE, Sept. 2. An Everett man reported that his Honda Civic was broken into and a stereo stolen. The car’s center console and passenger- side window were damaged.

* 900 block of Madison Street, Sept. 3. Police arrested a Marysville man who allegedly ran from officers investigating an assault outside the Madison Pub. He was found hiding under a car in the Rodland Motors storage yard and was arrested on suspicion of criminal trespass and obstructing officers.

* 1400 block of 112th Street SE, Sept. 3. Police cited an Everett man for fourth-degree assault after he allegedly assaulted a man he suspected of stealing his day planner and money. The other man denied the theft.

* 34th Street and Wetmore Avenue, Sept. 4. An Everett man was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and on a warrant for third-degree rape.

* 3500 block of Federal Avenue, Sept. 4. An 82-year-old Everett woman reported her purse had been stolen from her home.

* 200 block of SE Everett Mall Way, Sept. 6. An Everett man allegedly tried to cash a stolen check at Check Masters. Police arrested him on suspicion of possession of stolen property and a warrant for not having a valid driver’s license.

* 7700 block of Evergreen Way, Sept. 6. Hollywood Video reported that an Everett man and Edmonds woman allegedly stole $261 worth of videos. As they were leaving the store, the alarm sounded and the two ran. The videos were found in a nearby dumpster. Police found the two nearby and cited them for theft. The man was booked into the Snohomish County Jail on a warrant from Seattle.

* 4100 block of S. Third Avenue, Sept. 6. A 1994 Acura Integra was found with an estimated $1,550 worth of damage, including a cracked windshield, stolen stereo, missing rearview mirror and other damage.

* 1800 block of 37th Street, Sept. 7. A large compressor valued at $2,000 was reported stolen from a company’s storage room.

* 2400 block of Broadway, Sept. 7. A Bothell man reported that a chop saw valued at $300 was stolen from a store he was renovating.

* 4600 block of Fowler Court, Sept. 8. Police arrested two men on suspicion of first-degree robbery after they allegedly stole $400, a van and $2,500 worth of tools from two Everett men. Police found the suspects, armed with a pistol and sawed-off shotgun, driving the van. They were booked into the Snohomish County Jail.

* 10900 block of Ninth Drive SE, Sept. 8. A witness reported seeing two boys running from a garage and called police. An Everett officer discovered the garage had been broken into and notified the owner. He estimated that $1,000 worth of equipment and tools had been stolen from the garage.

* 500 block of SE Everett Mall Way, Sept. 9. An Everett man allegedly swapped his shoes for $64 Nike shoes, then walked out without paying. After store employees took him into custody, an Everett officer arrested him on suspicion of theft. The new shoes were returned to stock, and the suspect was given back his old shoes.

Oak Harbor

* 900 block of NW Second Avenue, Sept. 8. A student reported to police Sept. 8 that his mother had been assaulted at a football practice at Oak Harbor High School on Sept. 3.

* 2100 block of Coral Sea Drive, Sept. 8. Two women, age 40 and 60, and a man, 38, were accused of shoplifting more than $1,700 worth of merchandise.

Stanwood

* 7300 block of 267th Street NW, Sept. 6. Two advertising signs were reported stolen from the sidewalk in front of an espresso stand.

* 8800 block of Viking Way, Sept. 4. A computer was reported stolen from a business.

* 27000 block of 102nd Avenue NW, Sept. 4. A 36-year-old Camano Island man was accused of attacking a man with a pool stick. Witnesses told police the attack was unprovoked. He was booked into jail.

* 10400 block of Highway 532, Sept. 4. A 41-year-old Marysville man was arrested after police observed him allegedly driving about 90 mph. He was booked into jail and cited for driving under the influence and reckless driving.
