One of Hollywood’s most high-profile couples has finally set a wedding date.
Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes will marry in Italy on Nov. 18, Cruise’s representative, Arnold Robinson, confirmed to The Associated Press on Tuesday. Holmes will wear a dress designed by Giorgio Armani, Robinson also confirmed.
The wedding date was reported by Us Weekly magazine on its Web site.
Holmes, 27, and Cruise, 44, got engaged in June 2005. Their daughter, Suri, was born April 18. She made her debut on the cover of Vanity Fair magazine last month. The photo showed Suri peeking out of a jacket worn by Cruise as Holmes looked on.
Cruise and Holmes were first photographed together in Rome in April 2005. Two months later, the “Mission: Impossible” actor announced he had proposed to Holmes atop the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
Holmes, who starred in TV’s “Dawson’s Creek,” was previously engaged to actor Chris Klein. Cruise was previously married to Mimi Rogers and Nicole Kidman, and also had a high-profile romance with Penelope Cruz.
Madonna discusses adoption with Oprah
Madonna told Oprah Winfrey Tuesday she was surprised by the firestorm surrounding her efforts to adopt a 13-month-old boy from the African country of Malawi. And she blamed the media for it.
Madonna taped the interview via satellite from London for airing today. It was the first time she’d spoken publicly in depth about the adoption.
According to a member of the “Oprah” audience, Madonna said she was startled by press reports about the toddler’s father, Yohane Banda, who was quoted last week as saying he didn’t realize he was signing away custody of his son, David, “for good.”
“She said she met with the father, she looked him in the eye,” audience member Sheryl Lewis recounted.
Madonna, she added, said she acted according to the law and had both “oral and written approval … and now the press have gotten to him,” Lewis said.

Busta Rhymes dodges weapons charge
A judge has ruled that prosecutors cannot charge Busta Rhymes with possession of a weapon – a machete found inside a sport utility vehicle – following his Aug. 12 arrest on an assault charge.
Rhymes, 34, appeared at the brief hearing Tuesday before Criminal Court Judge Shawndya Simpson. The judge rejected a prosecution request for the additional charge against the rapper.
According to prosecutor Harrison Scheiloch, a machete was found in the rear seat pocket of an SUV in which Rhymes was a passenger when he was arrested after a performance at the AmsterJam Music Festival on Randall’s Island, N.Y.
Rhymes, whose real name is Trevor Smith, was charged with assault after he allegedly attacked a man for spitting on his car.
