JUNEAU, Alaska — Juneau’s cruise ship season has begun.
KINY Radio said the Carnival Miracle arrived in the capital city on Thursday.
Close to 1 million cruise ship passengers are expected in Juneau this year.
Passengers are estimated to spend about $180 on taxable goods locally.
Juneau port director Carl Uchytil said that equates to about $180 million. That translates to about $9 Million in taxes — a quarter of all sales tax collected.
