Darrington man was victim of Highway 530 motorcycle crash

DARRINGTON — Officials have identified a motorcyclist whose body was found Sept. 2 near Darrington.

Detectives believe that Gary Young, 67, of Darrington, crashed and died about two weeks before the discovery, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The crash site was off Highway 530, over the Skagit County line. Young was on a 2009 Harley when he failed to negotiate a curve and struck a tree, officials said.

His name was released Wednesday by troopers.
