MADRID — Authorities are investigating the death of a student from Seattle in Barcelona, but at this point do not suspect foul play, Spanish police said Tuesday.
Crispin Scott was found dead Saturday in an apartment in Barcelona province, a police spokeswoman said.
The Dartmouth College student had gone out Friday night in Barcelona but apparently later left the city with some others, she said on condition of anonymity in line with police policy. She declined to give more details, including Scott’s age or exactly where in the province he was found.
Scott was abroad on the Academy of Liberal and Beaux-Arts program run by Portland State University.
He attended a gathering Friday of at least 40 students in the program at a hotel. Program director Charles Grant told The Dartmouth newspaper that Scott did not return to his apartment and did not show up for an orientation session Saturday.
The U.S. Embassy in Madrid said it was in contact with the student’s family and police.
