ORLANDO, Fla. — The teenage daughter of “Queen of Versailles” stars David and Jackie Siegel died Saturday in their home in the Orlando suburb Windermere, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said.
Victoria Siegel, 18, was found unresponsive at the Siegels’ Seagull Island mansion just after 2 p.m. Saturday, said Jeff Williamson, a spokesman for the sheriff’s office.
She was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Williamson said the medical examiner was still determining the cause and manner of death.
Siegel said he would defer comment until an official statement is released.
David Siegel is the founder of the Orlando-based timeshare company Westgate Resorts, which has grown into an empire of 28 resorts around the country.
The Siegels may be best known for Lauren Greenfield’s 2012 documentary “Queen of Versailles”, which followed them as they built a second 90,000-square-foot mansion, called Versailles House, which they have said they hope to complete by David’s 80th birthday in May 2016.
David Siegel sued Greenfield for “false and defamatory statements”, but lost the lawsuit in March 2014 when an arbitrator ruled that Jackie and David “actively promoted” the film while claiming it was defamatory. The Siegels later filed another lawsuit, over the rights to a follow-up film on their life stories.
The Siegels most recently appeared on last Wednesday’s episode of the ABC television show “Wife Swap.”
