Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon has asked the County Council to preserve the town of Darrington’s right to continue to manage and operate the popular Darrington Archery Range, water tower and associated water lines.
Reardon submitted an interlocal agreement to the council that would allow the town to continue to manage the properties free from charge by the county. The term of the agreement is three years.
The properties are owned by Snohomish County and managed through the county’s parks and recreation department.
“This agreement ensures that Darrington High School students and local residents will continue to enjoy the benefits of this exciting sport,” Reardon said.
Darrington High School, the Darrington Archers and the general public have used this facility for many years.
Historically, the Darrington Archery Range and water tower have resided on property owned by the state Department of Natural Resources. Snohomish County received the Darrington Archery Range, water tower and associated water lines properties in 1999 as part of a reconveyance of 155 acres to the county by the natural resources department.
