LONGVIEW — State officials are delaying a decision about where to build a proposed prison processing center in Western Washington.
Officials initially had hoped to have named three site finalists by March. David Jansen with the Department of Corrections tells the Longview Daily News that officials are weighing their options because of the state’s budget crunch.
The DOC wants to build a $200 million center to house 1,000 newly incarcerated inmates who have just entered the prison system or are being transferred between prisons.
The agency has received applications for 16 sites.
