The 2015 Snohomish County Democratic Dinner and Henry M Jackson Awards at Edmonds Community College in Lynnwood Saturday will feature Snohomish County Executive John Lovick, U.S. Rep. Suzan DelBene, TV comedian John Keister and travel writer Rick Steves.
The dinner starts at 7 p.m. Saturday in Woodway Hall, Edmonds Community College, 20000 68th Ave. W., Lynnwood, with a reception at 6 p.m.
Lovick will be master of ceremonies. DelBene, Keister and Steves will present these awards: The Hope Award for a rising star to community activist Megan Dunn; the Community Award to Darrington Mayor Dan Rankin and Arlington Mayor Barbara Tolbert; the Empowerment Award to Snohomish High School civics teacher Charles “Tuck” Gionet, who recently was honored by the Washington State Legislature as one of two top civics teachers of the year; and the Progress Award to State Rep. June Robinson.
Robinson represents the 38th Legislative District, including Everett, Marysville and Tulalip.
Congresswoman DelBene represents the 1st Congressional District, including inland parts of Snohomish, Skagit and Whatcom counties and part of King County.
Comedian Keister was the host of the KING-TV program “Almost Live” and now hosts “The 206.”
Steves, an Edmonds-based travel writer, is the host of a PBS travel program and a political activist.
