MUKILTEO – Snohomish County Democrats gather for their annual summer social Sunday, where they will mingle with Democratic lawmakers and candidates for legislative and statewide office.
The event has a new location, switching from the home of Helen Jackson to the home of Jeff Bjornstad, chief of staff for Rep. Rick Larsen, D-Wash., and a veteran of local party politics.
A buffet, live music and plenty of short speeches are planned for the fete, which runs from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday. Most of the county’s Democratic state legislators are expected to attend, as well as candidates for governor, attorney general, secretary of state, superintendent of public instruction and state Supreme Court.
Parking will be at Kamiak High School, 10801 Harbor Pointe Blvd., with shuttle service to the event location.

Everett: Larsen talks overtime and yachts
The new federal overtime rules and how they will affect workers and employers will be the subject of a forum Monday hosted by Rep. Rick Larsen, D-Wash.
Larsen will be joined by officials from the U.S. Department of Labor, state Department of Labor and Industries, and several labor unions.
The event will be 10:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. in the Snohomish County Labor Temple, 2812 Lombard St. in Everett. On Thursday, Larsen will travel to La Conner for a meeting of yacht builders and owners to discuss longshore insurance and legislative issues concerning yachts.
The meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. at Pacific Mariner, 780 Pearl Jensen Way in La Conner. The public is invited to both free events.
