EVERETT — The same 11-year-old boy who allegedly attempted to stab a student at Alderwood Middle School last month was taken into custody again Monday after deputies say he returned to the campus with two knives.
Sheriff’s office deputies responded to a report of a child on campus with a weapon just after 3 p.m. after school was dismissed for the day, the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post on Monday. The suspect fled on foot. Deputies located him and took him into custody. They recovered two knives from his person, the post said. He has since been transported to Denney Juvenile Justice Center for booking.
The school entered a modified after-school lockdown, which was lifted Monday afternoon. There were no injuries, and there is no active threat to students or staff, the sheriff’s office said.
The incident comes almost exactly one month after the same child allegedly tried to stab another student at the same school, also fleeing the scene, the sheriff’s office said.
In that April 4 incident, the sheriff’s office said the boy arrived at Alderwood Middle School and attempted to stab a student before a teacher intervened, preventing injury. He fled and was turned over to law enforcement two days later by a parent, the sheriff’s office said.
He was booked into juvenile detention at the time on suspicion of second-degree assault and possession of a weapon on school property and later released.
The boy previously attended a nearby elementary school and is no longer an Edmonds School District student, the sheriff’s office said.
