EVERETT – Snohomish County sheriff’s deputies were searching for a man suspected of robbing a business Wednesday night.
Witnesses told deputies the suspect came into Sun Solarium West in the 400 block of 91st Avenue NE near Frontier Village about 8:10 p.m. and demanded money. The man was armed with a handgun and his face was covered with a sweatshirt.
A police dog searched for the man but was unable to locate him. The suspect was described as a white man in his 20s and about 6 feet tall.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the sheriff’s tip line at 425-388-3845.
Lynnwood: Police looking for bank robber
Police are looking for a man who robbed a bank inside a grocery store Thursday afternoon in Lynnwood.
The man reportedly walked into the Washington Mutual Bank inside a Safeway store about 5 p.m. in the 17500 block of Highway 99. He passed a note to the teller and set what looked like a grenade on the counter before escaping with cash, Lynnwood police spokeswoman Shannon Sessions said.
Police got pictures of the man from security camera photos.
The suspect is described as white, between 50 and 60 years old, standing about 6 feet tall and weighing about 200 pounds. He spoke with a Russian accent and was wearing a long black leather jacket and wire-rim glasses.
Lynnwood police say anyone with information about this case should call the department at 425-744-6900.
Two people injured in Lynnwood shooting
Two people were injured by gunfire Thursday night, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.
The shooting occurred about 9 p.m. in the 200 block of 151st Place SE in Lynnwood, sheriff’s Sgt. Ty Trenary said. The two people who were injured were taken to an area hospital. Their injuries did not appear life-threatening, Trenary said.
Deputies were searching for a suspect in the shooting late Thursday. It’s unclear whether the suspect acted alone, Trenary said.
Index: Workers clean up pear spill on U.S. 2
Road crews finished cleaning up U.S. 2 early Thursday after a semi-truck hauling 75,000 pounds of pears overturned, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The accident happened about 6:40 p.m. Wednesday and shut down the highway. Crews were able to open one lane of traffic a few hours later, the state Department of Transportation reported.
The mess was finally all cleaned up early Thursday, Trooper Keith Leary said.
No one was reported hurt. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Hawaii: Snohomish man falls to death
A Snohomish man fell to his death early Wednesday morning from the 24th floor of a Honolulu hotel, The Honolulu Advertiser newspaper reported.
Police believe Jeremy Peterson, 32, slipped shortly after midnight while attempting to climb from a fire escape stairwell to the lanai of his room at the Ala Moana Hotel, the newspaper reported.
Peterson was pronounced dead at 12:51 a.m.
