SMOKEY POINT – Snohomish County sheriff’s deputies are asking for the public’s help in finding a missing 83-year-old Smokey Point man who may have been involved in a hit-and-run accident on Monday.
Fred Beilfus was last seen about 5 p.m. Monday at Porky’s, a bar at 17121 28th Drive NE in Arlington, according to a sheriff’s office report.
A witness reported seeing a Chevrolet Blazer matching the license plate number and description of the one Beilfus owns about 5:40 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 9 and Highway 530.
Police don’t know if Beilfus was driving, but the Blazer reportedly crossed the centerline and hit the driver’s side of a Volkswagen GTI, Arlington Police Chief John Gray said. The Blazer then left. The Volkswagen driver was not hurt.
Beilfus apparently did not return home, and his family is concerned that he may not remember where his home is, said his daughter Linda Beilfus, 56, of Snohomish.
Beilfus is 6 feet 1 inch tall, 220 pounds, and was last seen wearing a red flannel shirt and khaki pants.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Snohomish County sheriff’s tip line 425-388-3845.
Everett: Thief strikes at downtown bakery
An Everett bakery was hit by a bold thief Friday while owners were helping an employee burned out of her home.
Pave Bakery owners Lil Miller and Nan Wilkerson sold scones, muffins and other special items to raise money for an employee whose Marysville apartment was damaged by fire Dec. 5.
They were at the front of the store about 3 p.m. Friday giving the employee more than $600, plus gift certificates, when an employee reported seeing a man sneak in the back, Miller said.
The man allegedly stole $1,100 from the previous day’s sales, she said. “It’s hard not to feel violated,” Wilkerson said. “We’re glad nobody got hurt.”
Everett police are investigating, Sgt. Cheryl Brayley said.

Tulalip Bay firefighters responded but were unable to revive Evans. He died of high-voltage electrocution, the medical examiner’s office said.
