LYNNWOOD — A Snohomish County sheriff’s deputy shot at a man who allegedly was attempting to ram another deputy’s patrol car after being trapped on a dead end road late Saturday, officials said.
No injuries were reported.
The chase started just before 11 p.m. when deputies were preparing to arrest a man, 24, at a Lynnwood-area apartment complex. The man, who was wanted on warrants, fled in a stolen car, accompanied by a woman, 20, Everett police Sgt. Jerry Strieck said.
The pursuit ended on a dead-end road not far away. The man attempted to back the stolen car into a pursuing deputy’s patrol car when another deputy fired a shot, Streick said.
No one was injured, he said.
The man and woman were arrested and booked into the county jail in Everett.
In keeping with procedure, the deputy who fired the shot was placed on paid administrative leave while the gunfire is being investigated by the Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response Team. The special team of detectives routinely investigates police incidents involving deadly force or serious injury to officers and suspects.
The deputy has worked for the sheriff’s office for five years, Streick said.
