SAMMAMISH — The King County sheriff’s office is investigating how one of its deputies drove off a highway near Sammamish.
The 33-year-old man was seriously injured when his car went down an embankment and hit a tree about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday on Highway 202.
Spokesman John Urquhart said the deputy was able to radio for help. Witnesses in a nearby car helped him out of the wrecked patrol car.
Urquhart says the deputy is an 11-year police veteran who was assigned to the city of Sammamish for a drunken driving emphasis patrol.
