SPOKANE — A Spokane County sheriff’s sergeant accused of slapping his daughter has been placed on leave for a misdemeanor assault investigation.
The sheriff’s office says David Fray fought with his daughter Sept. 13 in a car after he picked her up at Washington State University.
The Spokesman-Review says Fray responded with a backhand after she threw a cup of soda on him.
The Spokane City Council agreed Monday to hire a private lawyer to prosecute the case.
Fray has been with the sheriff’s office since 1976 and earns $83,000 a year.
