ORLANDO, Fla. – Members of a union group representing about a third of Walt Disney World’s employees have narrowly rejected a tentative labor contract.
Service Trades Council voters, most of whom would receive raises of at least 4 percent under the proposed contract, rejected it 2,870 to 2,583 Friday.
The council represents 21,000 of Disney World’s 60,000 employees, including food service workers, merchandise personnel, lifeguards, vacation planners, stage technicians and janitors.
“We are determined to continue to work to achieve a new contract,” Morty Miller, president of the council, told the Orlando Sentinel.
