My story Tuesday describes the efforts of those who volunteer to provide religious services for inmates at the Monroe Correctional Complex.
One of the people I talked to, John Burkholder, is pastor for prison ministries at Cascade Community Church in Monroe.
He directed me to this video, a documentary about how the bodybuilding and faith-based communities have worked together to provide programming for inmates over the years. The programs are about becoming better men through teaching and transformation, he said.
The video is up for several awards, he said. He’s promised to let us know when/if they win, so we can write something.
Either way, it’s pretty interesting. And there’s a “Pumping Iron” reference in there for you lifting aficionados.
