SEATTLE — The state Transportation Department is opening a public information center Thursday in Seattle to tell how replacing the Alaskan Way Viaduct with a tunnel fits into the history of the Pioneer Square neighborhood.
It’s called Milepost 31, for a nearby spot on Highway 99.
The Seattle Daily Journal of Commerce reports the department developed the center with the local history organization HistoryLink and the Burke Museum at the University of Washington.
