SPOKANE — Spokane has closed its downtown Visitor Information Center because it was too hard to find.
Visit Spokane spokesman Tim Robinson says the location, at Browne Street and Main Avenue, was too hard to reach from Interstate 90.
The Spokesman-Review reports the center closed on Halloween. It’s being replaced by information kiosks. One has already opened in River Park Square. Another kiosk is planned in the Spokane Valley Mall, and a mobile unit should be ready in the spring to stop at community festivals.
The downtown center was built in 1995 and had about 14,000 visitors a year. The city plans to lease the building, probably for a retail store.
