EVERETT — A short police pursuit Wednesday morning ended with a crash on northbound I-5 just south of 128th Street SW in Everett.
Traffic backed up throughout the morning as Washington State Patrol troopers investigated. The chase started just after 8 a.m. when a trooper was advised a car facing the wrong direction was parked on the shoulder of northbound I-5 near I-405, trooper Keith Leary said.
The trooper contacted the driver and asked for identification. The man made a U-turn in the middle of the freeway and sped off northbound, Leary said. The trooper followed the man for about a mile before the driver lost control of his vehicle, struck another car and left the road. The suspect’s car rolled in the median just south of 128th Street SW.
The Mountlake Terrace man, 22, was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle as a precaution. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, Leary said. He was arrested for investigation of driving while intoxicated.
No one else was injured.
