EVERETT — A driver knocked down a power pole Wednesday afternoon, then abandoned the car.
Police and firefighters were called to the scene in the 3200 block of 118th Place SE just before 3 p.m., Snohomish County Fire District No. 1 spokeswoman Leslie Hynes said.
They found a green Buick sedan with tinted windows at the side of the road, beneath a power pole. There was nobody inside, Hynes said.
She said wires and debris from the pole were blocking the road in both directions.
Snohomish County PUD was working Wednesday afternoon to return power to about 10 customers in the largely residential area, spokesman Mike Thorne said.
Rodger Griffin of Snohomish said he saw the wreck when he was driving home.
“The pole somehow ended up on top of the trunk,” he said. “And the seat belt was dangling outside the driver’s door.”
The skid marks on the road and the grassy area beside it appeared to indicate that the driver failed to make a turn, Griffin said.
