MARYSVILLE — A driver died when a vehicle collided with a train Tuesday morning.
Marysville police said the southbound car hit a northbound train around 5 a.m. in the 8900 block of State Avenue. The coupe was dragged nearly a mile to 104th Street, Cmdr. Mark Thomas said.
Police believe the incident started near 88th Street NE, where the driver would have had to go off the road and cross a wide strip of grass, well away from an intersection on State Avenue.
The person’s age and gender were not made public. What led the driver to that spot is under investigation.
“It’s too early to tell,” Thomas said.
Intersections nearby were blocked for about two and a half hours.
