Driver suffers skull fracture in collision

MARYSVILLE — A woman was seriously injured Tuesday when her car collided with a delivery truck at the intersection of 128th Street NE and State Avenue, police said Wednesday.

The woman, 33, was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after the crash, which happened shortly before 4:30 p.m., Marysville Police Cmdr. Robb Lamoureux said.

The woman suffered a fractured skull, fractured hip, bruised lung and other injuries, and was helped by two motorists before firefighters arrived, Marysville Fire Department spokesmen Nathan Trauernicht said.

David Osborn and Wayne Beaver climbed into the woman’s car to try to immobilize her spine to prevent further injury and to gently move her head into a position where she could breathe, Trauernicht said. "They deserve to be commended for their actions," he said.

The truck driver was not injured.

Death at gun shop

likely self-inflicted

An Everett area man Wednesday fatally shot himself in a gun shop and shooting range south of Everett, Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Jan Jorgensen said. "We don’t know if this was a gun he had rented or if it was his own," Jorgensen said. "It appears to be a suicide."

Police received a call of shots fired at 1:25 p.m. at Sam’s Gun Shop, 11714 Airport Road. Jorgensen didn’t know if the incident occurred in the store or on the shooting range. There were no witnesses, although several people heard the gun go off, she said. The man was in his mid-20s. Leroy McMillon, a sales clerk at Sam’s, said the store had no comment on the incident.
