SNOHOMISH — A reportedly drowsy driver crashed into a vacant business Thursday afternoon in downtown Snohomish.
Snohomish police responded to the crash just after noon on Glen Avenue, not far from the Snohomish Bakery at First and Union and Snohomish City Hall. Deputy Jason Sandt said a Chevrolet Silverado truck was westbound on Second Street when the driver reportedly fell asleep at the wheel, drove across the opposite lane, down an embankment, through some tree branches, over the curb and sidewalk, and into the store.
“He’s very lucky,” Sandt said of the driver. “I think the store was just vacated a little bit ago, like days or weeks.”
The driver and a passenger had only minor injuries, described as scratches by Sandt. Alcohol and drugs did not appear to be involved, he said, and speed was not a factor. Sandt said there were no charges or arrests.
