EVERETT — An ex-convict who allegedly threatened to kill a nurse after she laughed about his plan to name his newborn in honor of the late mob boss John Gotti is facing a new felony drug charge.
John Keinath, 39, was carrying 8 grams of methamphetamine when he was arrested Aug. 5, Snohomish County deputy prosecutor Janice Albert said in court papers.
She charged him Tuesday with felony possession of a controlled substance.
Keinath already is jailed on $1 million bail.
He is awaiting an October trial on a felony harassment charge related to threats he reportedly made to the nurse in March.
He had been free until early this month when prosecutors sought his arrest, alleging he had discovered the nurse’s name and address and was planning to kill her.
Police learned Keinath, who goes by the street name “Flare,” had been spotted in Marysville driving his Mercedes.
An officer found Keinath’s car parked along the street and saw him walking nearby. The defendant ran when the officer yelled “Flare!”
Keinath was chased down and arrested.
In addition to the meth he reportedly was carrying a glass pipe and $5,000, according to court papers.
He has convictions for drive-by shooting, assault, domestic violence and car chases with police.
