SULTAN – A truck pulled over for having expired license plates was found to be carrying cash, drugs and packaging material, according to Sultan police.
Police stopped the truck about 3:13 a.m. Saturday in the 15600 block of North Skyview Drive, just south of the city. Officers reportedly found marijuana, prescription drugs, methamphetamine, packaging materials and $2,324 cash, Sultan Police Chief Fred Walser said.
A 39-year-old Sultan resident who was driving the truck and a 48-year-old passenger, also from Sultan, were arrested and booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of drug possession with intent to deliver, Walser said.
A Snohomish County sheriff’s deputy assisted Sultan officers with the arrests.
A single-story home in Marysville was damaged in a fire that was reported by neighbors early Saturday.
Smoke was coming from several openings in the house in the 8200 block of 53rd Drive NE when firefighters arrived just after midnight, Marysville Fire Department spokeswoman Stephanie Price said.
Firefighters began an offensive attack, entering through the home’s front door and cutting holes in the roof for ventilation. The fire was quickly extinguished, Price said.
Neighbors reportedly called 911 after hearing “crackling” sounds and seeing flames, Price said.
The homeowner was not home, and no injuries were reported. The house sustained significant smoke damage and moderate exterior fire damage, Price said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office.
