LYNNWOOD — A Mountlake Terrace man was arrested for investigation of vehicular homicide after a fatal collision Thursday night with a pedestrian along Highway 99.
The incident began at 10:49 p.m. in the 18800 block of the highway. It initially was reported as an accident involving a man in dark clothing who was struck after having run into traffic. The pedestrian was dead at the scene after having been hit by two vehicles, first a Nissan Altima and then a pickup truck.
The Nissan’s driver, 20, was arrested because Lynnwood police believe he was driving under the influence of cannabis and alcohol, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in court. Officers reached that conclusion after talking with the man, who also agreed to field sobriety tests.
Police obtained a judge’s permission to obtain a sample of the suspect’s blood for testing prior to his being booked into jail.
The pickup’s driver was not arrested.
