Another piece of the 2012 election puzzle fell into place today when Republican Reagan Dunn launched his campaign to become the state’s next attorney general.
Dunn, a King County Councilman, has made clear for months his intention to enter the race if Republican Attorney General Rob McKenna decided to run for governor. McKenna declared his candidacy for that post last week.
In a press release, Dunn states:
I am running for Attorney General because I am concerned about the overall direction of Washington State Government and I believe we can do much better. While Rob McKenna has done a very fine job as our AG, much more still needs to be done. Our state faces significant challenges, including high unemployment, an unfavorable business climate for job creation, and crime levels that are unacceptable.
Dunn is the second declared candidate in this race.
Democrat Bob Ferguson , who is also a King County Councilman, began his bid for the office in February. Democrat John Ladenburg, who ran unsuccessfully for this job in 2008, is considering trying again.
