IRRIGON, Ore. — Morrow County authorities have accused a 64-year-old Irrigon woman of neglecting a bed sore that led to her mother’s death.
District Attorney Justin Nelson says Ida Anna Powers was indicted on a manslaughter charge in the death of Anna Lyons, who developed the bed sore in the fall.
Nelson told the East Oregonian that Powers was caring for her mother, and other members of the family intervened when they saw Lyons’ condition.
He said she was flown to Oregon Health &Science University in Portland, where she died Oct. 6.
Nelson said Powers was arraigned Monday and pleaded not guilty. She was being held with bail set at $50,000. She is to appear again on June 6. Her public defender did not immediately return a call.
