SEATAC — The Washington State Patrol says one of its troopers was hit by a suspected drunken driver on I-5 Saturday night.
The News Tribune of Tacoma reported the 46-year-old trooper was taken to the hospital with nonserious injuries.
The State Patrol said the trooper was parked on the right shoulder of I-5, responding to reports of a drunken driver, when a 1989 Toyota Corolla struck the rear of his cruiser. The Toyota returned to the highway after the impact, and hit another passing car.
The 44-year-old Seattle man driving the Toyota was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
