SEATTLE — A nurse has been charged with 22 counts of first-degree theft in connection with the theft of more than $770,000 from an elderly Kirkland woman in her care.
Temalesi M. Morgan of Edmonds was charged Wednesday in King County Superior Court. Investigators say she supported her gambling habit by stealing.
The alleged victim, who has been diagnosed with dementia, has been under Morgan’s care since 2006.
Her children became concerned after a conversation with the woman’s broker. After gaining power of attorney, the victim’s daughter went through her accounts and found large ATM withdrawals at nearby casinos.
Investigators also said large amounts of money were withdrawn from her investment account.
Morgan is being held in King County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bail.
