EDMONDS — Baristas at a local coffee stand who reportedly got too steamy led Edmonds police to arrest three employees at Java Juggs Espresso Inc. last week for investigation of prostitution and unlawful exposure.
Police on June 30 also arrested the owner of the stand, a 49-year-old Snohomish woman. She is accused of promoting prostitution.
Three additional employees weren’t arrested but may be charged, police said.
Edmonds police launched an investigation in October after a number of people complained about baristas exposing themselves to customers at a Java Juggs stand, located at Highway 99 and 212th St. SW.
Police said they’ve posed as customers to collect video of several violations. Baristas exposed themselves for large tips, according to a statement released by police.
In other cases, customers would pay baristas money in exchange for physical contact, police said.
Edmonds police are working with the Snohomish Health District and the city’s code enforcement office to address issues not covered by criminal law.
